Adult Education Services


Jefferson College AEL offers the following services:

HiSET Test Preparation and Instruction (High School Equivalency - HSE): This free service provides instruction in Language Arts (Reading), Language Arts (Writing), Mathematics, Science and Social Studies.

English Language Learners (ELL): This free service provides instruction for English Language Learners and offers individual and small group instruction. Call for more information about our next scheduled ELL orientation at (636) 481-3437 or 797-3000, ext. 3437.

Adult Literacy Program: This free service assists adults with fundamental reading skills and matches students with their own personal tutor for individualized instruction. For more information, contact our Literacy Coordinator at (636) 481-3437 or 797-3000, ext. 3437.


Important information regarding AEL for students 17 and/or 18 years of age:

All students who are 17 and/or 18 years of age at the time of enrollment in Jefferson College’s Adult Education and Literacy program, are required to provide an official drop out letter from the student’s home high school. This letter must be turned in at Orientation. Students will not be allowed to test or begin instruction until this letter is on file with Jefferson College’s AEL program.

All students who are 17 and/or 18 years of age and have been home schooled are required to provide a letter giving parental permission to enroll in Jefferson College’s AEL program; this letter is required at the time of enrollment. Students will not be allowed to test or begin instruction until this letter is on file with Jefferson College’s AEL program.

AEL Program Brochure
