The Jefferson College Foundation is grateful for the generous support of donors toward the Library Reimagined Campaign.

The Jefferson College Library is one of the oldest and most visited buildings on Jefferson College’s Hillsboro campus.  With no significant updates to the 1966 structure, the Library needed a major renovation and transformation to bring it into the 21st Century.  The renovated spaces were designed with a commitment to community, life-long learning and student success.

Everything a 21st Century library could possibly need…from quiet spaces nestled in the stacks, individual and group study rooms, carrels, tables by windows, silent “click free” study spaces…to embedded technology throughout the new spaces…and abundance of natural light in quiet and collaborative areas…and collaboration facilitated with moveable furniture, white board walls, banquet seating, technology enhanced study rooms.

The architectural design reflects an aesthetic that is creative, contemporary and connected to nature, with inspiring spaces for learning and community involvement.  The Jefferson College Library Reimagined features include:

  • Technology Upgrades: Over 75 Personal Computers; 5 SMARTboards; four times the WiFi access; Content Creation Lab and digital equipment; over 350 USB and power wall receptacles; powered furniture; energy efficient LED lighting, and zoned high efficiency HVAC.

  • Spaces Improved: 13 individual and group study/meeting rooms; streamlined student production areas on each floor; new Early Childhood Education Reading Nook; collaborative, quiet and silent study spaces; abundant energy efficient windows throughout with great views of the campus; improved access to digital and print collections; improved event spaces; sound attenuation throughout; and new Testing Center located next to the Library.

  • Traditions Preserved: State-of-the-art archival storage for 18th and 19th century Jefferson County records; History Center Research Room; digital microfilm reader; quiet reading spots; over 70,000 volumes in the general collection, plus the Federal Depository Library collection and the Jefferson County History Center collections; and quiet study spaces with a variety of seating options and windows.

Currently serving 100,000 student and community visitors, it is anticipated that the amazing renovation and transformation of the Jefferson College Library will result in an increase a 40%+ in annual visitors.

With your support, we will ensure that Jefferson College continues to provide healthy, safe and inspiring spaces for learning and community enrichment.
