In this video, a former AEL student explains how the Adult Education & Literacy program helped her to achieve her goals.

Adult Education classes provide the opportunity for adults to improve their basic skills, study for the High School Equivalency/HiSET test-formerly GED, and enhance their workforce and college readiness skills.

In 2014 the State of Missouri started using the HiSET instead of the GED for students to attain their High School Equivalency. It still accesses the same type of material, just under a different name.

When a student is ready to begin class, the student and the instructor will design a plan of study, which will help the student reach his or her goals. Jefferson College is pleased to be able to provide this opportunity for students to discover their future, and we invite potential students to join us!

The Adult Education and Literacy (AEL) program is funded through the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and is offered at no cost to students. However to maintain funding, it is important that enrolled students demonstrate a commitment to the program with regard to attendance and academic achievement including a pre and post test to measure academic gain.
