Former Missouri Governor Jay Nixon recently visited the Jefferson College campus in Hillsboro to view an extensive collection of arrowheads and artifacts donated by his family in honor of Jay’s late father, Jeremiah “Jerry” Nixon. The unique collection is being historically preserved, displayed, and used for educational study.
During his visit, Nixon also toured the College’s newly renovated Library, made possible by a substantial $1.7 million appropriation by the Missouri legislature as part of a statewide initiative he led for higher education capital projects during Nixon’s term.
Nixon is a native of DeSoto and both of his parents were deeply involved in the early history and establishment of the College.
